  Field Trips to Stoke Ferry and Cranwich Heath
  11am: Stoke Ferry Cut-off Channel. Target species Grizzled and Dingy Skippers - 16 species have been recorded in the past at this site. Directions - from Mundford take A134 to Stoke Ferry, at Stoke Ferry roundabout take 2nd exit into village, turn left just after church, continue and turn left into School Lane and meet at the end - TL696990
  2pm: Cranwich Heath (near Mundford) - meet at Heath entrance TL772934. Recent heath restoration work by the Forestry Commission has improved this site for Dingy and Grizzled Skippers - an under-recorded site which may hold a few other surprises.

  Field Trips to Foulden Common and Narborough
  11am: Foulden Common - meet at Common entrance TF640000. Weather permitting this is probably the best site in Norfolk for Dingy and Grizzled Skippers
  2pm: Narborough Railway Line - meet at car park TF749116 by old railway bridge half a mile south of village on Marham Road. Target species - Grizzled and Dingy Skippers and other early butterflies.

  Field Trip to Waveney Forest - Joint meeting with Suffolk Branch.
  10.30am: Meet at car park off New Road, Fritton TG466007 to survey this woodland site, moving to an under-recorded tetrad in the afternoon. Bring packed lunch.

  Swallowtail Day at Wheatfen Nature Reserve
  Held in conjunction with the Ted Ellis Trust at Wheatfen Nature Reserve, Surlingham. An opportunity to see Swallowtails and other interesting fauna and flora on the paths around this special reserve. Guided walks all day from 10am – wellies or stout footwear recommended. Refreshments available. Parking at TG325057.

  Catfield Fen Open Day
  Our Catfield Fen Reserve will once again be open to members and the public for Swallowtails. Water levels permitting, there will be guided walks at 11am and 2pm, boat rides around the dykes may also be possible.
Unaccompanied access is only possible along the Rond on the western and southern fringes of the Reserve.
Parking at TG369215 by kind permission of Dr and Mrs S Holburn – sorry no dogs.
Wellies highly recommended and essential if going into the Reserve. You might also find some insect-repellant useful.

  Field Trip to Cawston Heath
  3pm: To survey for Silver-studded Blues following the translocations of 2006/7. Meet in the car park for the rifle club at TG165236. Take Marsham road east off B1149 just south of the Cawston roundabout. Beside the first building on the left is a track into the woods and after 300 metres the entrance is on the left.

  11am: To survey for Silver-studded Blues. Park on the grass opposite the Butchers’ Arms pub at TG345283. Afterwards, those who wish can stay on for lunch at the pub and visit East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens where there is an entry charge of about £5.

  Field trip to Great Hockham  - joint meeting with NWT Breckland Group.
  Meet at picnic site on A1075 at TL937919.
10am: Moth Trap - an opportunity to see the contents of a trap run overnight.
11am: Walk in the woods to Frosts Common and Cranberry Rough - bring a packed lunch. Target species - general moths and summer butterflies with hopefully a few surprises.

  Field trip to this NWT Holme Dunes Reserve and Ringstead Downs.
Meet at Holme (TF715450) - charge for non-NWT members.

10am: Inspection of previous night’s moth trap.
11am: Guided walk. Target species Grayling, Brown Argus, Small Heath.
Bring a packed lunch - we will be moving on to Ringstead Downs in the afternoon.

  National Moth Night
  Moth traps will be run at Lynford Arboretum, TL822943, meet at 7pm.

From Thetford, take the A134(T) towards the village of Mundford. At the roundabout, turn right onto the A1065 signposted Swaffham. In about 300 yards, turn right, on a bend, signposted Lynford Hall. Lynford Arboretum is approximately one mile along this road.
